  • HRSA Policy Questions

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is the federal agency responsible for organ donation. The following questions concern HRSA's policies towards living donation.
  • Breakthrough Collaborative: In 2003, HRSA began an Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative, a series of meetings and discussions aimed at increasing adoption of best practices throughout the organ donation field.

  • HRSA Grants: In recent years, HRSA has offered a competitive grant program for programs that are trying to increase organ donation under 42 U.S.C 271f-1(b). Programs that aim to increase living donation have not been eligible to apply for these HRSA grants.

  • Performance Report: Currently, HRSA’s Division of Transplantation assesses its own performance each year in a public Annual Performance Report.
